Crucial Knowledge offers a half day course specific to Human Factors for EASA and FAA Regulatory Requirements for Repair Stations. This four hour seminar is an economical and crucial first step in meeting future (and as yet unstated) FAA Human Factors training requirements for Repair Stations, as well as existing EASA requirements

The workshop includes:

· How to comply with EASA and FAA regulatory requirements, including a review of applicable regulatory and guidance materials, as well as a strategies for compliance through training.

· Why Human Factors? A brief look at how and why human factors training has become important.

· An Introduction to Edwards’ SHEL Model as a means of explaining the interactive components involved in maintenance functions.

· An Introduction to Boeing’s Maintenance Error Decision Aid (MEDA) process.

· Heinrich’s Ratio (the Iceberg Model) and the implications for truthfulness in reporting incidents as a means of avoiding major accidents.

· Contributing Links in the Chain of Events, underscoring the importance of a systematic approach to Human Factors and the creation of safety nets.

· The Reason Model’s explanation of the classification of unsafe acts, and the application of this classification to various case studies.

· An Overview of the Dirty Dozen of Human Factors.

· Group: A Human Factors Maintenance Case Study Review and Discussion

· Exam

Objectives

At the end of this course, participants should be able to:

Recognize the impact of human factors
Recognize the safety chain
Define situational awareness
Identify clues to the loss of situational awareness
Identify links in the safety chain
Identify and understand Norms
Explain Human Factors and Human Performance in relation to human errors
Identify the Dirty Dozen
Understand safety nets and methods to prevent errors
Define and understand the communication process
Determine how behavior and personality affect communication in the workplace
Determine how verbal and nonverbal qualities affect the communication process
Name some tools in managing conflict
Identify barriers to good decision-making

Methods of Instruction

Instructional methods include lecture, and group discussion. There is a final exam, and a certificate of completion is issued to students who successfully complete the course.
