Before any employee performs any servicing or maintenance on a machine or equipment where the unexpected energizing, startup, or release of stored energy could occur and cause injury, the machine or equipment must be isolated from the energy source and rendered inoperative.  This training is designed to equip workers with information regarding lockout/tagout procedures, and the importance of adhering to these safety rules. Repair Station Forms Training simplifies the creation and maintenance of repair station forms.  Contents include reviews of guidelines found in the AC 145-9 and FAR Part 145. The training is concluded with automated quiz, grading and reporting. This course is a great first step if you create or manage forms used in an aviation repair station! (Length 15 minutes)

Housing & Facilities - $20


Repair Station Facility Training provides repair station inspectors with guidance concerning the adequacy of the company’s facilities.  This 15 minute training scenario may be used for inspector training or CFR training.  Contents include reviews of guidelines found in the Inspector’s Handbook, AC 145-9 and FAR Part 145.  The course concludes with a quiz, which is automatically graded, and the results reported via email to either the student or the supervisor. (Length 15 minutes)

Every Repair Station is required to have a written receiving inspection process and plan, as well as effective employee training.  This course is a basic introduction to receiving inspection as outlined in the CFRs, including guidance materials. (Length 15 minutes)

The Repair Station Manual Introduction should be required for all employees who work in the repair station environment.  This course breaks down the elements that compose the Repair Station Manual, as well as the Repair Station Quality Manual.  (Length 15 minutes)

Technical Data Training describes the procedures and processes important for ensuring that current technical data is available for the scope of work the repair station is performing per Section 43.13(a). (Length 15 minutes)

AS9100 Overview - $20


This AS9100 QMS course is designed to introduce employees to the principles associated with AS9100, which is the aviation version of the internationally acclaimed ISO 9001:2000 standards.  This module is perfect for initial employee training for the AS9100 requirement, addressing subjects like implementation of the quality management system, the process-based approach of the QMS, and fundamental descriptions of the documentation of the quality system. (Length 20 minutes)

National Alternator (N400) Teardown, Inspection and Testing - $20


The National N400 alternators are heavy-duty, high output replacements for the Ford 95/100 amp alternators. The training courses reviews the basic teardown, inspection and testing of the unit. (Approximately 15 minute presentation, quiz and handout for a 45 minute total time review and test.)

Troubleshooting the Aircraft Charging System - $20


From Lamar Technologies, this training course focuses on the basics of Troubleshooting the Aircraft Charging System.  The 25 minute presentation covers the Basic Charging System, the Alternator, the Self-Rectified Alternator, the VSF System, the Alternator Control Unit, how to diagnose a dead battery, over-voltage trips, low voltage problems, belt malfunctions and over-voltage conditions. (This presentation concludes with a quiz and student guide for a one hour course.)

Forklift Operator Training - $20


According to the forklift regulations (Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 29, Section 1910.178) anyone who operates a powered industrial truck—at your facility, that is a forklift—must receive training before operating the equipment.  At the conclusion of this training session, students should be able to:

  • Understand the operational characteristics of a forklift (including differences from driving a car)

  • Understand forklift controls and instruments, motor operation, steering, and other instructions, warnings, and precautions.

  • Understand the basic principles of operating a forklift safely and skillfully.

  • Know how to identify the hazards of operating a forklift under various conditions in the workplace.

  • Be capable of applying general principles for safely operating a forklift.

  • Know how to properly inspect and maintain a forklift.

This serves as initial training and must be combined with training on a forklift at your workplace, training specific to conditions at the workplace, and any additional training specified in the forklift manufacturer’s instruction manual. (Viewing length 35 minutes, 10 question quiz, 2 page student guide, total estimated training time 1 hour.)

Lead Acid Aircraft Batteries - Installation and Maintenance - $20


Developed in association with Concorde Batteries.  Topics covered include battery life, types of lead acid batteries, safety precautions, battery ratings, battery installation, NiCad vs. lead acid batteries, battery testing, charging, discharging and conditioning.  Safe battery removal and disposal is also covered.  This one hour training course is packed with information covering a full array of topics on installation and maintenance of batteries for aircraft applications.

How Ball Bearings Are Made - $20


Produced in association with New Hampshire Ball Bearings Inc., this course teaches the student the importance of precision that is built into every ball bearing. This course provides an overview of the process involved from machining, to heat treatment, grinding, honing, inspection, cleaning, assembly and packaging of ball bearings. The view time is approximately 16 minutes. A quiz and handout are included for an estimated training time of 30 minutes

Ball Bearings - Handle With Care - $20


Produced in association with New Hampshire Ball Bearings Inc., this course teaches the student the importance of handling ball bearings correctly. Emphasis is placed on the storage, inspection, installation and handling procedures necessary to maintain both new and used bearings. This is an excellent primer for ball bearing care. The view time is approximately 18 minutes. A quiz and handout are included for an estimated training time of 30 minutes

It is the responsibility of maintenance personnel to protect their supply chain.  Suspected Unapproved Parts (SUP) is a very real problem that threatens the supply chain of the aviation maintenance industry.  This Suspected Unapproved Parts course qualifies toward one half hour IA renewal credit.
